DESCRIPTION:Work with expert level faculty to review the cognitive base of advanced critical care echocardiography (ACCE) that is relevant to the upcoming National Board of Echocardiography (NBE) Examination of Special Competence in Critical Care Echocardiography (CCEeXAM)\, scheduled for January 15\, 2019. The board review course is specifically designed for learners who are scheduled to take the examination and will focus on refining mastery of image interpretation\, clinical applications\, the knowledge base of ACCE. \nReview key components of ACCE including: \n\nM mode\, 2D\, and Doppler physics\nMeasurement of stroke volume/cardiac output (SV/CO)\nAssessment of left ventricular (LV) and right ventricular (RV) function\nMeasurement of filling pressures and diastolic function\nEvaluation of valve function\nDetermination of preload sensitivity\nMeasurement of intracardiac pressures and flows\nEvaluation of heart-lung interactions\nEvaluation of pericardial disease\nEvaluation of catheters and devices\nRelevant components whole body ultrasonography\n\nIn addition to didactic lectures\, the course will include an image-based review of complex cases and challenge the learner with hundreds of questions using sophisticated real-time ARS technology. The goal of this course is to best prepare the learner for the upcoming challenge of the NBE CCEeXAM.

SUMMARY:Extracorporeal Support for Respiratory and Cardiac Failure in Adults
DESCRIPTION:Designed for intensive care providers with patients in respiratory and cardiac failure\, this course will be led by experts from high-volume extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) centers and consists of a mix of lectures and high-fidelity workshops. Topics will include patient selection\, ICU management of the patient\, and basic troubleshooting of the ECMO circuit. More specifically\, the course will focus primarily on venovenous (VV) ECMO for severe respiratory failure. The content will also include an introduction to veno-arterial (VA) ECMO for refractory cardiac failure\, cardiopulmonary failure\, extracorporeal CPR (eCPR)\, and guidance for starting and maintaining new ECMO programs.
