Meet Your New COPD Committee Chairs

At the Association of Pulmonary Advanced Practice Providers (APAPP), we believe that the future of respiratory care is driven by leaders who blend clinical mastery with a passion for advocacy. Today, we are thrilled to introduce the two clinicians who are stepping into the roles of COPD Committee Chairs: Dr. Justine Sicari and Brian Bizik. 

Dr. Justine Sicari, DNP, FNP-C, MSN 

Dr. Justine Sicari, DNP, FNP-C, MSNA nurse at heart and a pulmonary nurse practitioner by practice, Dr. Sicari brings over two decades of nursing experience and a deep commitment to education, mentorship, and patient-centered care. As an adjunct professor and nationally recognized speaker, she is known for empowering advanced practice providers through clear, evidence-based education and real-world clinical insight.

Dr. Sicari’s leadership reflects the strength, compassion, and clinical excellence that define nursing and advanced practice. Her passion for elevating COPD care, mentoring future clinicians, and amplifying the APP voice makes her a powerful addition to APAPP’s leadership team.

Brian Bizik MS PA-C, DFAAPA

Brian Bizik MS PA-C, DFAAPABrian is a Physician Assistant with over 20 years of clinical experience.  Currently, Brian is the Respiratory Care Director for the Terry Reilly Health Centers in Boise, Idaho.  In addition to his pulmonary practice, Brian also oversees three busy urgent care clinics in the Boise area.  Brian is also the Past President and Conference Chair of the Association of Physician Assistants in Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and a past member of the Idaho State Asthma Collaborative.  Brian enjoys spending time with his family, the Idaho outdoors, and trying to survive Spartan races. 

As co-chairs, Dr. Sicari and Brian will present the latest research on COPD and translate scientific updates into actionable clinical tools for APPs. We are incredibly fortunate to have these two leaders steering our COPD initiatives. Please join us in welcoming Brian and Justine to their new roles.
