Supplemental Oxygen Bill Update from CHEST

APAPP continues to follow the Supplemental Oxygen Bill in Congress. As APPs, we understand the critical role supplemental oxygen plays in the lives of many of our patients with respiratory conditions. Ensuring access to this essential therapy is paramount.

As always CHEST provided a great report in April: https://www.chestnet.org/newsroom/chest-news/2025/04/an-update-on-supplemental-oxygen-bill-in-congress

From CHEST- In February 2025, the SOAR Act was reintroduced in the House of Representatives. Along with more than 30 patients, health care professionals, and industry organizations, CHEST urges Congress to pass the bill, which is critical to ensuring individuals can access the oxygen treatment and services they need to live healthy and fuller lives.

You can read the full letter to Congress here.

This bill has the potential to significantly impact how our patients access and receive supplemental oxygen. APAPP encourages all our members to review the update from CHEST and consider how this legislation might affect your practice and, most importantly, your patients. Understanding the nuances of this bill will allow us to be effective advocates for the respiratory community.

Together, let’s stay informed and engaged. Thank you for your dedication to pulmonary advanced practice.
